This year I am beginning an exciting new journey toward becoming a certified Montessori teacher. I am in my first year teaching a Montessori 1-2-3 class in the Dallas- Fort Worth area. In my fifth year in the classroom, I am getting to work with my favorite age group 6-9! While I have loved my time teaching junior high and preschool, my class this year has been an absolute joy! The learning I have seen in my classroom this year has been inspiring. The growth I get to see in my students in a vertical class setting is so exciting!
I care deeply for my students and strive to provide them with constant opportunities to learn and succeed. The Montessori philosophy encourages self-sufficience. As an educator, I believe in holding my students to high standards, and teaching them to be self-motivating. However, I feel strongly that one of the most important keys to student success is parent involvement. Parents and teachers must work together to help students achieve their potential both in and outside the classroom.
I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, with a minor in Gender Studies. This summer, I will attend Houston Montessori Center to receive my American Montessori Society ceritification. I love all aspects of teaching all, but I am most passionate about teaching writing. I feel that helping a student to find their own voice through writing is one of the most empowering things a teacher can hope do.
